On the 22nd June I attended a presentation by Professor Constantin Bratianu at the Polytechnic University on Knowledge Dynamics, a metaphor of energy as managing knowledge. The main thing that struck me was this slide (photo by Prof. Eric Tsui)!
Professor Bratianu showed us this slide and asked us what a burger tastes like. He delared that it tastes of . . . nothing. However, the bun tastes of bread, the patty tastes of meat, the cheese taste of cheese, etc. He explained that this is the traditional view of knowledge where every idea is discrete, but that in reality, knowledge is more like soup, with all the ingredient mixed together. I thought to myself I wonder where I had heard that before? Great minds must think alike!
A more serious review of Professor Bratianu ideas will follow!
